The question of how many cards does the dealer have in blackjack is not as simple as one might think. In the first place, it is not easy to determine how many cards dealt to a dealer when playing blackjack online against a dealer who has many cards (since they are used more frequently than blackjack dealers who do not have many cards to deal with). The second point is that one should not base his assumption of the answer of how many cards does the dealer have from the number of players at the table. The number of players at the table affects the number of cards dealt to the dealer, but the actual card dealt to the player is not the only factor affecting how many cards a dealer has. The number of players in a room also affects this question of how many cards does the dealer have.
Blackjack is a game of probability, and in any game the likelihood of a certain number of cards being dealt to a player is not exactly the same. In a live game, a dealer might have an entire deck to deal to a player – one hand to each player. In a virtual game, this can be multiplied by the number of players participating. Therefore, in the case of blackjack, we might suppose that a dealer has a certain number of cards (in the minimum and maximum denominations) to deal to each hand, but what counts is the overall number of cards the dealer has to deal to the whole table.
If the dealer has a full deck (which is not always the case), then that dealer will deal the player all of their starting hands (the ones they start out with in the casino), plus the cards that the house has printed for them (if there are any, including Ace, King, Queen and Jack). Then the dealer will deal the starting hands to the player three times (including the first one). Then the dealer will remove the starting cards and the remaining cards from the deck and put them in front of the player for the rest of the game.
Now, when you answer the questions on your blackjack card-trading site, you are really answering two questions. The first question is how many cards does the dealer have in blackjack; and the second question is how many cards does the dealer have to face up in the dealer’s deck? The answer to the first question is easy: the more cards, a dealer has to deal to get rid of the first player’s hand, the more cards the dealer has a face up in his deck. That means that the dealer’s hand is less than the number of cards the dealer has in his deck – and that means the dealer’s goal is to make sure he doesn’t lose too much money, since that means the house will win, and the house always wins.
The second question is a bit trickier. How many cards does the dealer have to face up in his deck depends on how many players there are at the table. If the dealer is playing a game with four players, the number of decks the dealer has to deal with is four times the number of decks the four players have assembled. For five players, the number of decks the dealer has to deal with is six times the number of decks, or twelve. So for an average game, the dealer has twelve decks, counting the one that the dealer is going to shuffle (since it’s the only deck that’s dealt during a game).
The number of cards that the dealer has in his deck is less than the number of the players’ cards – the number that the dealer’s shuffler has to deal with. And that means that the deck is smaller. It’s much smaller than the deck that the players would each be able to take with them, assuming that each of the players had a full deck of cards. So the numbers of the cards the dealer has been less than the number of the cards the players would each be able to take with them.
Now you know what the answer to the question, how many cards does the dealer have in blackjack should be. You also know how many players there are, and how many decks the players could each have taken. In short, you have the answers to the question, how many cards does the dealer have in blackjack. Now you can go ahead and place your bets.
Remember that answering this question is partly contingent on how skillful a blackjack player the dealer is. If he is very skillful, then the answer to the question will be different. On the other hand, if the dealer is not very skillful, the answer to the question may be different. It all depends on the dealer and how well he knows how to play the blackjack game. And once you know how good a dealer is, you will always know how many cards does the dealer have in blackjack.
